Interested to see how many people post in this in the next... week or so?

...since I last updated that news thing at the top.

Any suggestions for what I should change it to on the 6th? A highly offensive joke? Links to some hardcore porn? Perhaps instructions on how to fold a t-shirt in just 2 seconds?

Off Topic Discussion / What next for the RRP forum?

I'm curious as to what you all think. I currently pay a fairly small amount of money to keep the VPS active, and it has other purposes than RRP so I do have some incentive to keep it online, so I'm not financially motived to turn off the thing. But honestly this forum just makes me kind of sad, I can't help but remember all the good times every time I come on it, even though they simply don't exist any more. That said, if I did turn it off, I would lost contact with all of you.

So what do you think should become of the RRP forum folks? Those of you left anyway!

Off Topic Discussion / International RRP meetup

So this weekend me and Brennan were hanging out in Liverpool drinking far too much of far too many different thing (we both paid for it yesterday...) and said we'd like to go away somewhere in the next few months, maybe explore a new city (most likely European). Anyway we also discussed how much better it is when you're with someone who knows the area, so we figured maybe we should ask on here.

So, anybody here live anywhere interesting (preferably typical tourist places; Berlin, Amsterdam, Bruges etc.) and fancy meeting up some time in the next few months? Likewise, if anybody from any non-interesting places wants to come they're more than welcome :).

Turns out beer occasionally makes you make a GOOD decision!

Off Topic Discussion / So uhh...

I was feeling nostalgic... to solve it, I first did this (note the last date I logged in):

Surprisingly, it started fine, so I checked an old friend:

Another surprise, it really works! Rather than mess around updating the client and server, I just thought I'd see if it actually let me play (included the date...):

Was a fun moment, despite the god-awful resolution!

Off Topic Discussion / Introducing Aftermath by Duncan (Redgie) McArdle
« on: October 09, 2014, 07:15:28 PM »

Yeah, bet none of you guessed this, I've written a book!

"Welcome to Aftermath, the Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Thriller E-Book series set in the United States of America.

The dead have risen from their graves and actively hunt the living, turning everyone and everything they can grab over to their own, sickening side. But in a world where a scarce few of the living remain, it isn't only the dead that threaten civilisation. Groups of individuals known as "Bandits" roam the open planes and inner cities, hoping to relieve fellow survivors of whatever few precious possessions they have managed to amass. In a place so torn apart by the Zombie apocalypse, and so further endangered by the actions of evil men, how can anybody hope to survive for long.

If you're a fan of fiction, thrillers, actions or better yet, the zombie genre in general, you'll love the Aftermath series. Immerse yourself in the incredible tales of survival, the gripping scenes of battle, and the ever growing catastrophe that is the undead-ravaged modern world."

If you're at all interested, please check it out at, or by searching my name in any major E-Book store (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Play, iTunes).

This is a full book, not a short story or anything like that, so I'm hopeful that anybody willing to try it will get a decent amount of enjoyment out of it. I've just released it now, and so am keen for early readers :)

Off Topic Discussion / Wednesday
« on: October 02, 2014, 02:45:04 PM »
Something big is happening on Wednesday. It's a project I've been working on for an entire year, so I'm incredibly excited to finally unveil it. It has no restrictions, no age rating, no country limitations, nothing like that, so I hope some of you will be interested in it as all of you can be.

I'm not up for saying anything else yet, as only my immediate family (And Brennan) know what it is. But come Wednesday, I'll let you all know :)

I should clarify though, it's not a game or gaming server, or anything like that. It's likely something that will interest 1% of you. But I consider all of you guys to be kind of like my E-Family, so even if you're not able to directly enjoy it, I'll still enjoy sharing it with you all :)

P.S. I've posted this in the off topic and not plastered it all over the forum, because I don't really think it's fair for me to use this community as my personal advertising board.... but we'll see :P

P.P.S. I may be announcing it on Twitter before here... not really sure

News, Announcements & Information / Forum Restored
« on: January 23, 2014, 11:16:53 AM »
Hi, due to excessive spam bot attacks I've had to restore the forum to an earlier backup (Quite crudely and manually I might add, as SMF backups are about as useful as chocolate teapots).

Hope you're all doing well :).

News, Announcements & Information / RRP - What Next?
« on: September 10, 2013, 02:02:22 PM »
So as I'm sure you're all aware, RRP has been on somewhat of a downward spiral for some time, notably recently as I have become less and less able to develop. This saddens me greatly, as RRP has been a huge part of my personal and professional life for almost 6 years, and I have known some of you for even longer than that. Accordingly, I ask that you give your inputs, whether they be votes or comments, so as to help me make a decision on the future of RRP.

Option 1: Close the SA:MP servers but keep the forums
This option would see the closure of RRP, but rather than simply turning everything off, the forums and associated websites would stay online, allowing you the community to continue to interact. This would most likely be done in a two stage process.

The first stage would involve simply clearing the forum of RRP based areas, and converting it to a more publicly accessible forum, most likely targeted at the gaming and technology sectors. We can then all use the forums to talk, and maybe (Who knows), see the community grow in a different way.

The second stage would be in the form of blogging. I have wanted to start blogging for some time, mostly to discuss tutorials and helpful aspects of certain areas of my personal expertise (So programming, PC / Server building etc.). This would allow new people to become interested in the community itself, and thus hopefully get more people onto the forums. In addition, I'd also like to experiment with giving you blogs, allowing you to say what you want to say and where beneficial, making you an official blogger (And potentially sharing the advertising revenue from your posts - Long way down the road).

The benefit of this approach is that much less resources would be needed. The VPS could be downgraded to as little as 5 per month, which should be relatively easy to obtain via advertising on the forum or blogs.

Option 2: Keep it Online
Whether on the current VPS or through an alternative and cheaper hosting arrangement (Maybe even hosting on my personal home server), there is always the option of keeping RRP as it is, having it remain online and hopefully getting it to a position where other people can help to develop it. This option would (Unfortunately) require a lot of input from me, whether it be in converting RRP to a group project, or indeed developing myself. The reason I say unfortunately, is because I have very little time to spare due to my new job, and what little time I do have to spare, I don't usually spend gaming.

Option 3: Close it down and say goodbye
This option involves simply turning everything off, discontinuing the VPS and having everything go offline, we all say our goodbyes, add your friends on Skype or Facebook or wherever, and RRP disappears.

Option 4: ?
Do you have any other ideas? If so, please post them with some useful information, and maybe I'll include them here.

I really can't explain to you all how important both RRP and you as players are to me, I may seem like a distant individual who has little or no care for the future of this community, but please trust me when I tell you that is as far from the truth as things get.
